Ming-Chu Hsu, Ph.D.
Founder, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board

Dr. Hsu founded TaiGen in 2001, after successfully building the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Research Division of the National Health Research Institutes in Taiwan as its founding director. She was also the leader of the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Research Program at the National Science and Technology Program in Taiwan, bringing together 62 academic laboratories to conduct mission-oriented research. Before her return to Taiwan in 1998, Dr. Hsu held the position of Research Director, Oncology and Virology at Hoffmann-La Roche, USA, for over 10 years. Prior to that, Dr. Hsu was an assistant professor at Rockefeller University, New York, and a Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology at Stanford University. Dr. Hsu obtained her Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Hsu has extensive experience in establishing both world-class drug discovery teams and clinical development programs.
Jing Lin
Chief Financial Officer, Finance & Administration
Ms. Lin joined TaiGen Biotechnology in September 2006 as CFO, responsible for overall finance and administration. Prior to joining TaiGen, Ms. Lin served as CFO of Taiwan's Digital United Inc. from 2000 to 2006. In that capacity, she played a leading role in the private placement of funding from international investors, corporate migration for an IPO preparation in the United States and other strategic initiatives. Previously, Ms. Lin was the Financial Manager at AT&T in the United States, involved in merger and acquisition activities and other responsibilities. Ms. Lin received her MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the National Taiwan University.
John Jin, Ph.D.
Vice President of Business Development

Prior to joining TaiGen in November 2009 as Vice President of Business Development, Dr. Jin had spent four years at Clearview Projects, a US-based strategic advisory firm advising clients on corporate & and business development activities in pharmaceutical product licensing, partnering, alliance, research collaboration and merger and acquisition. In this role, Dr. Jin led or participated in multiple cross-border licensing, acquisition and buy-out transactions in various therapeutic areas. Previously, Dr. Jin worked for Eli Lilly in various groups including Critical Care Marketing, Corporate Strategy, and Pharmaceutical Product Portfolio Management. Prior to Eli Lilly, he was a research scientist at Millennium Pharmaceuticals and pioneered in the development of a functional genomics platform for high-throughput drug target discovery. Dr. Jin has a medicine degree from Peking University Medical School, a Ph.D. in Immunology from Cornell U. Medical College, and an MBA from the Wharton School. He published seven peer-reviewed publications for his research work as a Ph.D. student including a first-author article in Cell.
Philip Kuo-Lung Huang
Vice President, Product Development & Marketing General Manager, TaiGen Beijing Office
Prior to joining TaiGen in 2004, Mr. Huang was with Takeda Pharmaceutical for six years and held a number of positions including Sales and Marketing Director in Beijing, Asia Marketing Strategic Manager in Osaka, and Sales and Marketing Director in Taiwan. Before that, Mr. Huang was with Sandoz (Novartis) Taiwan and MSD Taiwan for 15 years and held various positions, most recently as the Director of Business Development and Product Management. Mr. Huang graduated from Taipei Medical College and is a licensed pharmacist.
Richard Chi-Hsin King, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Chemistry
Dr. King has over 20 years of medicinal chemistry and chemical development experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining TaiGen in July, 2005, Dr. King was with Hoechst Marion Roussel as Section Head of Chemical Development. He was the inventor of alternative synthetic routes of Fexofenadine HCl, the active ingredient of a world leading nonsedating antihistamine AllegraTM and its enantiomers. Dr. King then moved to Union Chemical Laboratories, a division of Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in 1996 where he served as the Director, leading a multi-disciplinary pharmaceutical development program. In 1997 Dr. King joined Albany Molecular Research and became the Director of Medicinal Chemistry, in charge of chemical development and discovery chemistry with an emphasis on directing and implementing multiple client projects. Dr. King obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from University of Utah.
Yi-Jong Lin, Ph.D., DABT
Vice President, Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Lin joined TaiGen in 2008, after holding senior positions at Eisai Medical Research Inc., Otsuka Maryland Research Institute, Colgate-Palmolive Company and most recently at Amidabalin LLC, where he was President and Senior Partner. With more than 27 years experience in the new drug development, Dr. Lin has been responsible for a number of original IND / CTA preparations and submissions, as well as supporting NDA and MAA submissions to regulatory agencies worldwide, including the US FDA, Health Canada, MHLW and EMEA. After receiving his B.S. in Pharmacy from Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan, Dr. Lin went to Japan as a Rotary International Fellowship scholar and earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmaceuticals at the University of Tokyo. He is a registered Pharmacist both in Taiwan and Japan.
David Chung, M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. Chung first joined TaiGen in 2003, and most recently has held a number of Clinical Research Physician, Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director positions at major pharmaceutical companies' operations in Taiwan and Hong Kong, such as Wyeth, MSD, and Eli Lilly and Company. Prior to this, Dr. Chung was the Director, Internal Medicine, Schmidt Group Practice Clinic, and the Attending Physician, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, CGMH, Keelung, Taiwan. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1993 from the School of Medicine, Chang Gung University, Taiwan.
